December crazy-ness!

I know it is already JANUARY BUT I need to do a post about what happened during the wonderfully awesome month of December 2012!!!  Well since your all reading this blog I think its safe to say the world didn't come to end anywhere! December was a crazy month for us with the holidays and our trip to Canada to see my family!

Madison and I took our first flight ALONE with no help.. I was a nervous wreck because what was I going to do when she was screaming or how was I going to get through security alone!? Well all my worrying was a waste of time! Security was a breeze! They helped me get the stroller and bag on to the scanner machine and as for the actual flight (only 42min) Madison was as happy as clam :)
Our flight was pretty empty so she spent most of the time running between me and window and taking out ALL of the papers in the seats!

With Grandma
Our first full day in Canada we went to Johnson Bros. Tree Farm to help Grandma and Opa get their Christmas Tree! It was Madison's first trip to Uncle Kerry's tree farm! While we were there we went on a horse and trailer ride! Madison LOVED when the horses would go a little faster down the hills!
On the ride!

Madison and Opa checking out the machines!
Madison was super lucky and got her Christmas Present early... a KITCHEN! She played with the kitchen from sun up til sun down! Thanks Uncle Brett for putting it together!

A few days into the trip Chris drove up to spend the rest of our vacation with us! During that time we went to a few of my brothers hockey games. He is #8 on the Ottawa 67s in the OHL.
Busy night at Scotia Bank Place

Madison and Uncle Ryan!
We spent lots of time with family and I was able to check out the Carrie Underwood concert with my best friend! And we were 3rd row!! WOW!!! That is all I can say. This was our 3rd time seeing Carrie Underwood and she doesn't disappoint!

Closing the show!

3rd row!!!
When we got back from Canada my brother Ryan and his girl friend Emily came to visit! We spent a day in the city, shopping and visiting the tree.
Christmas eve was spent at my inlaws while my husband worked. Madison and Pop had matching aprons for cooking, as she got a kitchen at Mima & Pops house aswell!
It was the Christmas of Kitchens.. she got one at our house too.. Santa must want her to learn to cook ;)

ANWAYS! Here are just a few other pictures from Christmas :) Enjoy!

Chris is also super busy with work and has started studying for a test to be promoted :)

As for Madison.. she has been nicknamed "Madison the Menace" (yes thats a reference to my least favorite move - Denis the Menace". She had her 15 month check up yesterday and weighs 20.3lbs and is 30inches tall! Every girls dream.. light and tall!

Oh what fun.. our little munchkin just turned ONE!

WOW! As I sit at the computer to write this post I am watching my ONE year little darling play with her mega blocks and I can't help but think last year at this time we were in the hospital with a 14 hr old baby! Thinking of things like when will she walk, when will she talk, who will she look more like.. all those things you think about when your baby is first born. I can without a doubt say that this past year has been the most amazing year (thus far) for our family! Madison continues to amaze us every day and makes us fall in love with her all over again!
"Ok mom, you've got 12 of these pictures can we stop now"

This past weekend we had a big first birthday party for Madison with our family and friends. She only turns one once so we went all out. We did save alot of money with coupons for drinks, and party supplies and by making the banner and 12 month photo display myself.

We did craft tables for all of the little kids! The tables included pumpkins to decorate, bracelets and scratch pictures

Madison's amazing cake! (and yes I did splurge on this and it was so worth it!)

Happy birthday girl getting ready for her party!

Madison's amazing god mother Kate & her mom made these adorable cupcake flags!

Happy birthday to you!
The following pictures are probably some of my favorite.. not afraid to get messy

Not happy that I tried to wipe the icing out of her eye.

Madison and her cousin Bella!

Loving her new toy that her cousin Jake was teaching her how to use!

On Monday (her actual birthday) we went to Chris' parents house for brunch! My parents were able to come down and spend some time with Madison on her 1st birthday!

In my family it is tradition to get an angel food cake and RIP it!

My favorite picture of my parents and Madison!
All in all it was an amazing weekend and day! Still hard to believe that our little angel is now 1 year old! We can't wait to see what the next year has in store for Madison! Below are pictures taken at the same time one year apart.

Always in our hearts

So this post is much overdo for two reasons
1. We haven't posted in awhile and
2. because it's been almost 2 years since we had this horrible experience.

I figured October was a good month for this post as it is
National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month..
so here is our story. Not many people aside from our close friends and family know about this but I thought it was time to share to let people know why we feel so blessed to have Madison and it is also to help other people out there going through it.

In April 2010 Chris and I found out we were expecting, our families shocked at first as we were not married became excited to become grandparents and uncles and everything else.. but that happiness quickly turned to sadness. About 4 weeks (May 30th) after we found out we were expecting I started to have severe pains and just an overall feeling that something
wasn't right.

After a few visits (3 visits in 2 days) to the hospital we finally found out I was suffering a miscarriage. It was probably the worst news I have ever received. I had the hard task of calling Chris and telling him the news. I was 11 weeks pregnant, so of course we already had discussed names and what we couldn't wait to with our child and also our families and already had hopes and dreams for them as well.

May 30th will always have a special place in our hearts as we gained a baby with wings.

June 4th 2010 Chris and I got married and started our life together.

Late October 2010 we once again found out we were expecting this time it was an immediate feeling of happiness followed by an overwhelming feeling of "will the same thing happen".

After going for blood work we found out that my levels were good and I was for sure pregnant and showing that I was about 8 weeks. So near the end of November we went for our 10 week ultrasound to make sure everything was ok with the baby and it was then we received some more devastating news there was no fetal pole. So we had to go back a week later to a specialist and to double check that maybe I wasn't as far along as they had originally thought.

It was then at that appointment we found out that I was suffering another miscarriage and on Monday November 29th I had a D&C to complete the miscarriage. We had some testing done on the tissue and found out that we had been expecting a girl and that were was nothing wrong with the fetus itself.

I immediately blamed myself for the miscarriage because if there was nothing wrong with the baby then it had to be me.

By talking with other people I began to realize that it was not my fault and that there was nothing we could have done to save our baby.

So now with two little babies watching over us we decided to let things happen naturally if it happens it happens if not then its not meant to be.

Well Super Bowl Sunday Feb 2011 I found out again we were expecting and due Oct 13th. This time we held out on telling everyone including our family, it was hard enough to deal with our miscarriages privately but to feel the pain of everyone who was excited to have a baby around made it even harder.

I became very sick and was hospitalized 3 times for dehydration so it was a little hard to keep it from our families. Chris was working the day of our ultrasound but I was very lucky my mom was visiting and she had come with me and was there when we got the most amazing   news.. the baby was there and looked healthy! I was officially 10 weeks pregnant!

Chris and I had agreed to wait until the 12 week mark to tell anyone and so we did..  Everyone found out at the St. Patricks Day Parade! Our friends and family couldn't be happier but at the same time were praying that all would be ok.

After a long and high-risk pregnancy I went into labor October 14th and our gorgeous baby girl Madison Jay Murray was born at 1:52am on October 15 2011.
It was the moment we had all been waiting for a healthy baby.
October 15th is also Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.. I can't help but think that her unborn siblings had a part in that. ;)

A friend of ours who didn't know about our miscarriages commented on a picture on Facebook and said "when god was handing out cuteness Madison must have gone back for a few more helpings" I have never told that person just how much that comment meant to me and how much it has helped me certain days.

Anyways.. that is our story and I hope that everyone can take a moment this month to not only think and say a prayer for everyone who has been effected by Breast Cancer but also all the families who have lost a child be it born or unborn.

Thank you. xo's
