I resolve...

To have NO resolutions!
I have always made New Years resolutions and I have always let myself down by breaking them! So last year I decided to make no resolutions and it worked out for me!
Of course the usual get in shape, save more money etc come to mind but shouldn't you be doing that all the time? Last year I kicked started 2013 by setting goals instead of resolutions. One of them was get in shape. I was doing it! I was feeling good, I was down 15lbs, I was healthy and happy and then ... I got pregnant. So a few of my goals had to change. Instead of running my first 5k it changed to finishing my 5k even if it meant walking.  Goal completed at 13 weeks pregnant :)

So this year I decided to share my goals..
1. Have a healthy and easy delivery of our new baby in a few weeks.
2. Spend more time doing crafts with Madison and not stressing about the mess.
3. Spend more time with Chris doing things we enjoy.. Hockey games, running, biking etc.
4. Continue to enjoy my job at Elmwood
5. Be a supportive wife and mother
6. Turn our new house into a home we love to be in.
7. Finishing my personal training certification ... And yes I started it right before I got pregnant and didn't tell people about it! So surprise!!
8. Get back into my healthy pre pregnant lifestyle and run that 5k!

9... Enjoy my life!! I feel so blessed to have such an amazing husband and 1 already adorable little lady who everyday shows me how lucky I am to be her mother, and enjoy all the firsts ahead with the new little one :)

What are your goals?!

Another Christmas has come and gone...

Can you believe it's already December 27th? If I didn't have my day planner infront of me I sure wouldn't believe it.
This year has gone by so fast.. Our family has so much excitement in 2013. We found out we are expecting again, we sold our house, bought a new house, Madison started school, I started a new job and Chris started playing hockey for 2 different teams. We are ending this awesome year by starting a new incredible life changing year!
We are used to being a family of 3 so come march when we are a family of 4 it will take some adjusting.
I'm not going to lie I am a little nervous about about being a mother to 2 .. Especially since one of those little sweet hearts is currently going through her terrible twos, but the past week has made me realize how lucky I am .. Even when Madison is kicking and fighting because she wants to wear her princess shoes and dress outside in the little snow we have.

Anyways thing have calmed down here for the time being so I figured it was time to share with you our amazing Christmas memories. For Christmas Eve Madison, my mother in law and father in law and I headed to New Jersey to spend the evening with our future sister in laws family. We had a great time. Madison was so excited when we got home about Santa coming that she didn't fall asleep until 11!!! Lucky me she did sleep until 7 so holding her off until 830 when Chris came home wasn't hard. She was very patient!
After we opened our gifts we headed over to Chris parents house for breakfast with the family. Madison was so helpful she was passing out gifts and very thankful for everything she got! Later in the day we headed back over to their house for more gifts and dinner. I got the best gift of all... My parents and one brother surprised me by coming a day early!!! Madison got the most amazing gift.. Hockey helmet and skates!!!! (Thanks uncle Ryan)
The day after Christmas we tested out our new crate and barrel waffle dipper pan, the chef did an amazing job.
After breakfast we headed out for a little shopping and lunch. Madison was so tired she fell asleep in the stroller (something she rarely does).
We headed home and rested for abit and then headed up to the new house to show my parents ans Brett! They loved it!! It's making us more excited to move in!  We got some amazing news that the bank gave us clearance to close!! So as soon as the survey is done it's moving time!! 2 weeks is what they are saying!  Wooooo!

Later that evening we headed back to Chris' parents for one more Christmas dinner. Madison had a great time playing with her cousins Bella, Jake and Ryan!

Today is a much calmer day..we had breakfast at my in laws and the girls played for hours!  They danced, ran around and beat up big cousins Jake!
This was definately a Christmas to remember! The memories we made will last a lifetime, Madison is growing up to be such a good little lady and is going to be an amazing big sister.

I hope you all had an amazing weeks with your loved ones. The next few weeks are going to be filled with picking up our paint and backsplash tiles and Madison's new closet system ... So I am going  to enjoy a few peaceful days before the craziness starts all over again!!

Baby it's cold outside

Yesterday was the first snow day of the year. I was a little confused at 630 in the morning when I checked the news and it said school was closed but when I looked out my window at the school there was no snow. But I quickly decided not to question it and jumped back into bed to watch cartoons with Madison.  An hour later when we came downstairs there was a gorgeous coat of fresh white snow on the groud .. And it wasn't stopping anytime soon!
Madison was very excited to see all the snow and immediately started dancing around asking to make a snowman. We opted to hang out inside for a little bit until there was more snow and daddy was home, but when he came walking from work it was game on!! Snow suit and boots were put on and we ran outside!
We went over to Madison's school where Pop and uncle Mike were plowing and Madison got to help!
Even daddy took a turn driving uncle Mike's side-by-side and plowed .. We also learnt that if you let Madison steer she will try to drive it into the playground.

After some fun in the snow we stopped by our favorite coffee shop and then off to lunch at Mima and pop's house. Pop made one of our favorite things ... Grilled cheese with bacon :)
We decided to help decorate the house a little bit, daddy and uncle Mike hung up the lights outside and I helped decorate 2 little trees in the house.

Upon leavening we got some amazing news... We got our mortgage!!!! So we are still playing the waiting game as the bank still needs to do the appraisal BUT the big thing is done! To celebrate this news we went to Home Depot to get paint samples and then went and grabbed dinner at The Cabin, where Madison celebrated with some ice cream.

It was such a great first snow day :)
Off to look at paint samples!

"Santa where are you?"

Those were Madison's words when getting to the mall yesterday to see Santa! Her excitement gave me a little hope that the day I had been dreading wouldn't be so bad. We originally went to see the man in red on Sunday .. But upon getting to the mall and seeing the 1.5hr line we decided it wasn't the day! Then I discovered you could make an appointment, so I quickly jumped on my phone and made our appointment for Monday night! I did feel a little bad that we got to skip the line but then again we were those people many times. So just a little advice ... Look and see if your Santa takes appointments!.
I took Madison by myself so I was a little nervous about her or I having a meltdown during this experience BUT to my surprise and most of our family members ... Madison nailed it!!!
She sat on his lap and proceeded to tell Santa "I'm a ballerina". Not once did she cry or act like she was afraid.  All in all it was an awesome night! I even scored an amazing deal on crib sheets for the baby at Pottery Barn :)
Madison has the funny "pirate face" as we like to call it with the crooked eye and forced smile, we ended up purchasing the top one I posted where is a just looking at the camera.
Next year will be a whole new experience with 2 of them.. One thing is for sure I will be making an appointment!!!

Today we are lucky to have a snow day!! It is Madison's first snow day (she doesn't go to school on Tuesdays but I'm still counting it and it's my first snow day as a substitute and school employee...I get the whole day to spend with my little family. I never thought of this little perk when I took the job!

Off to bake some Andes Candies Cookies while we wait for Chris to get home from work. We've got lots to do today... Play in the snow, attempt to build Madison's first snowman and decorate our tree! Check back tomorrow for a post all about the snow!

Hope your having a great week!

So far we've spent a little over a week at "uncle Mikey's" house and it's been an adjustment for us all. Mikey's slowly getting used to a toddler running around, the dogs are loving all the play time, Chris and I are trying to get used to sharing a room with Madison and NOT waking up every time she moves. As for Madison she is loving it here tons of room to run, she walks to school, and there is always someone home to play with!

Contracts are signed for the new place so hopefully more news on that move in the next few weeks! Having thanksgiving this week slows down the mortgage process as no one works for a few days!!

Happy Thanksgiving... 30 days until Christmas!!!

Ch-ch-changes

A little David Bowie reference in the title there ...
As many of you know we have a lot of changes going on in our little family right now .. Expanding from a family of 3 to 4, selling our house, buying our house, Madison's new schedule, my new job etc ... It's a lot!!!
Friday at 5pm we came "homeless" .. We had officially sold our house and didn't own any property. Now we aren't actually homeless we are living with Chris brother Mike about 3 miles from where we used to live. It was awesome of him to offer his home to us .. It's not easy taking in a toddler, your brother, pregnant sister in law and their dog especially when he also has a dog... But it works!
It's going to take some getting used to as we are now all sharing a room. The past 2 nights have been great Madison gets time to lay in our bed and watch Dora (her favorite bedtime show) and then she crawls into her bed and goes to sleep. Chris and I try to avoid going into the room until we know she is fast asleep!
Once we are confident enough that she will not wake up we crawl into bed watch a little tv and hope Madison sleeps through the night... So far so good, it's me that doesn't sleep through the night .. Thanks to baby Murray's 2am dancing parties!
One awesome thing about Mike's house is our commute to work and school has been cut down hugely ... We don't even need to drive anymore! Mike shares a fence with the school property so Madison gets to walk to school and I to work!
Madison is having a ball living here she loves playing with the dogs and uncle Mikey! Never a dull moment.

As for the new house we are still hoping for a mid December close... We are waiting for our mortgage approval so we can set a closing .. Cross your fingers it doesn't take to long. I am really hoping we are in at least 5 days before Christmas so we can put up a tree and decorate!!

Here is a little picture of Madison with all her friends at Mima's house

Pregnancy after a loss...

Last year I wrote a super personal post about the miscarriages we suffered before having Madison, you can read the post here (http://keepingupwiththemurrays.blogspot.com/2012/10/always-in-our-hearts.html)

So I feel it's time for another personal post, this isn't something I like to discuss in depth with people because it brings up a lot of emotions... We have always been very open about our miscarriages and will continue to be, but deciding to try again for a baby after Madison was one of the most difficult decisions we have made.

Chris and I both had some reservations about trying again mainly what if...?, Chris was a little more relaxed and was more what happens happens, where I on the other hand was very nervous and didn't know if I could handle that possibility again. If it were up to Chris we would have started trying before Madison turned 1, but I was to nervous.

It took a lot of talking to my parents, my friends and Chris as well as our doctor to convince me that it was ok to try. In the spring I was finally in a place mentally that I could say I am ready! I know some people may wonder why would you think about something so bad so much, to me it wasn't thinking about the bad possibilities, it was thinking if I could mentally handle the possibilities, could I be there for my husband, could I still be a great mom to Madison, can I take care of myself?

Starting or expanding a family is not something that should be taken lightly no matter what your situation is. So far we have been so blessed with this pregnancy it has been super easy compared to Madison, but we can't help but breath a sigh of relieve at each milestone.. The positive test, the fabulous bloodwork, the first time hearing the heartbeat, the 13 week mark, the half way point and I know the 3rd trimester and having this little love bug will other big milestones!

I had said after Madison I was not planning on having any other children because of our history and how hard of a pregnancy I had but I think taking the 1.5 years to think about it, settle into life as a mother and really weigh the options was the best for us.

Since it is infant and pregnancy loss awareness month lets just take a minute to remember our 2 angels in heaven

Cookies, cookies and more cookies!!

Anyone who knows me knows I love to bake! Cookies, cupcakes, brownies ... Anything! I swear I am destined to be a baker .. In all that spare time I have.
Well this Saturday I finally let my little Cookie Monster help make some yummy chocolate chip cookies!
I measured everything out, put them into cups and let Madison mix all the ingredients together! It was such a fun thing for us to do together. Madison had fun and was very happy when she got to eat a cookie she worked so hard to make!
She even snuck a chocolate chip ... I wonder who she learnt that from ;)

It was such a fun experience/ experiment baking with a toddler .. I can't wait until the next time! Maybe some birthday cupcakes for the princess?

Spring has sprung

Here in New York its spring.. at least for the time being!
We've been enjoying the last days and spending LOTS of time outside. We recently purchased a bike seat for Madison! We settled on the iBert seat (in the front instead of back) after talking to a bunch of people and to the guys at our local bike store (Endless Trail BikeWorx .. if you live around Westchester you should check them out!).
We had the bike seat attached on wednesday and went for a little ride.. we put the seat on Chris' bike to start, since its been 2 summers since I have ridden my bike and I need to get more comfortable on it!
At first Madison wasn't to happy with the helmet BUT once she was in the seat she was ready to go!
Today, Chris got over time at work so it was a "mommy maddie day", we headed to the park, where Madison showed me her impressive big girl skills by going down the slide by herself! I am so proud of her, during fall last year she wouldn't go down unless someone was holding her.. its amazing how in a few months everything changes!

Little Diva

So happy

This picture of her is probably one of my new favorites there is something so peaceful about it!!
Anyways.. after the park we headed to Go Greenly for some yummy Frozen Yogurt!!! Madison has taken a liking to it.. she has the Simply Taro with Strawberries.. I opted for Wedding cake with strawberries and kiwi!!
So far this spring is great! We have lots of fun planned in the next little bit.. first of I am heading to Vegas for the Arbonne Training Conference, then we've got our annual trip to Rehobeth Beach Delaware, a trip to Canada for Brett's highschool graduation, a couple 5k races (maybe a 10k by the fall) And MAYBE a quick trip to Florida :)

March Madness

I've fallen off the blogging band wagon .. Time to jump back on!
First off Happy St Patricks day to everyone! We celebrated yesterday by going into the city for the NYC St Pats parade. It was a big day of firsts for our big girl .. First train ride, first cab ride, first time eating in the city! It was such a long 5 hours but Madison handled it like a pro! And as soon as we got home she took a nice long 2 hour nap! Everyone including our dog napped yesterday. Then it was off to dinner with a great group of friends and family ... We also found out Madison is going to have a new friend and birthday buddy come October!! Our good friends Mike and Carla are expecting their first baby! We couldn't be happier for them!
Alright so in the past few months Madison has gone from being a "baby" to a running toddler! She is even talking alot! Well it's more babble BUT she repeats it and gets upset if we don't understand her! Seems like she's going to be ready to start preschool in September!
Both Chris and I have been busy also , aside from chasing after Madison. Chris recently started working at "the rock" which is where the fire academy is... He is still working at his fire house in the Bronx , this is just an awesome over time Job with the FDNY. He loves it!! It gets to work with the flashover simulator .. Basically he lights fires all day!
As for me ... I've been working at the bar but have cut back my hours to spend more time with our little lady as the warmer weather comes! As side from that I've been working with a trainer and doing Pilates and running alot!!! I've decided to document my weight loss in another blog (guess I need to do that post too!) I will post the link to it on here :).
Today also happens to be Chris' twin brothers Tim and PJ's 27th birthday!! So we've got some celebrating to do later! Here are some pictures from the past few months!
